We are a close knit bunch of Cowboy Action Shooters associated with the Single Action Shooters Society (SASS).
SASS is an international organization created to preserve and promote the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting. SASS endorses matches conducted by affiliated clubs, promulgates rules and procedures to ensure safety and consistency in Cowboy Action Shooting matches, and seeks to protect its members' 2nd Amendment rights. SASS members share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting. One of the unique aspects of SASS approved Cowboy Action Shooting is the requirement placed on costuming. Each participant is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century, a Hollywood western star, or an appropriate character from fiction.

Their costume is then developed accordingly. Many event participants gain more enjoyment from the costuming aspect of our sport than from the shooting competition, itself. Regardless of a SASS member's individual area of interest, SASS events provide regular opportunities for fellowship and fun with like-minded folks and families.

Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old time shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, Old West, style. It is a timed sport in which shooters  compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages. As the game of Cowboy Action Shooting has evolved, SASS members have developed and adopted an attitude towards their participation called " The Spirit of the Game." It is a code by which we live.

Competing in "The Spirit of the Game" means you fully participate in what the competition asks. You try your best to dress the part, use the appropriate competition tools, and respect the traditions of the Old West. Some folks would call it nothing more than good sportsmanship. We call it "Spirit of the Game ." Our monthly match takes place on the 4th Saturday at our home range, Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club, located at the south end of Hurley Blvd., in Palm Bay, FL. Registration is at 8:00 a.m. Lead starts flying at 9:00 a.m.. Cookies and tea are served during the awards ceremony, after the match, and all participants receive; ribbons. Cost is merely $10.00 per shooter (juniors shoot for free). Camaraderie and comedic harassment are FREE. Come on out and enjoy our match! We also offer Cowboy Classes for new shooters, the Cowboy Range Officer basic class (R01), and the Cowboy Range Officer training course (R02). We highly recommend our Cowboy Class for any new SASS shooter or anyone thinking about getting involved with Cowboy Action Shooting. We cover everything you need to know for safe and enjoyable participation in your first match. Best of all, it's FREE!. Cowboy Class is held the 3rd Sunday of each month.
